FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the Humane Society Located ?

Currently, the Humane Society does not have a permanent shelter location. However, we have rescue and recovery activities taking place all over the county. We also have team members from all parts of the county. We currently have foster home located throughout the county. Our monthly meeting is held in the Geneseo County Building, on the last Tuesday of every month. Please see our calendar for more details on attending a meeting. Or you may contact us by regular mail, email, or we can be reached at (585) 234-2828.

Does the HSLC deal with feral cats ?

While the Humane Society recognizes the many problems with the large feral cat population in the county, we currently don't have the resources available to correct this problem. However, we often can provide food to these wild kitties, again when resources and funds are available. Our main focus is to help animals in the county that are domesticated and can be placed in good, caring homes. We are always interested in knowing the locations of feral kitty population, so please contact us.

I have found a stray animal, what do I do ?

Call the Humane Society (585) 234-2828 or contact us, through our email. While the HSLC will be required to turn over stray dogs to the Livingston County Dog Control Facility, we certainly can assist you with any domesticated stray animals.

I suspect or am aware of animal abuse, what do I do ?

Please contact us, via electronically or (585) 234-2828. We can help take care of the situation, regardless of the type of animal. We will typically get the local law enforcement involved, as animal abuse is a criminal offense. You may leave an anonymous tip, or you may leave a contact name or call back number. After we confirm a neglect or abuse situation exists, we will then perform or assist with performing a rescue.
