OUR MISSION ...... The Humane Society
of Livingston County through education and caring will work toward
eliminating abuse and over-population of animals and aid in the prevention
of their suffering within our community.
OUR PURPOSE .....
1.
Provide and assist in the protection of surplus, abused
and abandoned animals. To provide these animals with shelter and humane
care, within the limits of the law. To assist in the placement of such
animals in approved homes.
2.
Continue the spay/neuter program, with the addition of a
spay/neuter clinic to assist low income pet owners in Livingston County.
3.
Develop a functional foster care program.
4.
Promote and provide education services to the community.
5.
Do all of the above on a volunteer basis, without
reimbursement (excluding membership and donations to the Society as a
whole.)
6.
Raise funds-- an income stream of at least $4000 per
year exclusive of grants.
WHO & WHAT WE ARE ....
Founded in 1987. The Humane Society of Livingston County
(HSLC) is currently providing rescues, foster care, and adoptions for dogs
and cats (excluding feral). The HSLC has also prevented the over population
of animals through their Spay/Neuter Program. We are not funded by our
County, and not part of Dog Control, so we have to rely on grants,
donations, and fund-raisers to obtain money for our cause. Our membership
has doubled in the first quarter of 2004, from 64 to 127 members. All of
our volunteers consists of caring, dedicated
individuals who desire your support and assistance in helping animals who
are in need of loving homes. We are seeking donations to continue to
develop our capabilities as a Humane Society, including a future
spay/neuter clinic, a shelter, and community awareness programs.
Our Humane Society is hoping to build a new future and
with your help we can accomplish this goal.
